BOZ HITS NEW LOW: -14 Approval Index

From Rasmussen Reports comes news of Barack Obama's continuing slide:

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30 (see trends)

Harry Reid's Nightmare: 13.1% Las Vegas Unemployment

HARRY REID is already on the ropes for his 2010 re-election campaign. Per local Nevadan polls as of August 11th Reid was 6 points behind undeclared Nevada Republican Party Chairwoman Sue Lowden.

Poll: Reid would lose if Lowden were to run

Republican Sue Lowden would defeat incumbent Democratic Sen. Harry Reid by 6 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup, according to a poll of likely Nevada voters.

Unfortunately for Reid-bashers, Lowden isn't running -- at least not yet.

On Monday, Lowden supporters, including political strategist Robert Uithoven, disclosed the results of a poll commissioned as part of an effort to persuade the Nevada Republican Party chairwoman to run, especially if Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., decides not to challenge Reid.

The poll by Denver-based Vitale & Associates was conducted July 29-30 and showed that 48 percent of respondents favored Lowden to 42 percent for Reid. Ten percent were undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Of the 510 poll respondents, 44 percent identified themselves as Democrats, 38 percent as Republicans, 15 percent as independent or non-partisan, and 3 percent declined to state an affiliation.

The findings reaffirm the notion that Reid is in trouble in his home state, despite expectations that he will raise as much as $25 million to maintain his grip on the seat, said those behind the poll.

"Sue would have plenty of money to win this race," Uithoven said. "She doesn't have $25 million, but she wouldn't need it."

Pollster Todd Vitale said the most telling numbers might be the ones related to Reid.

More recently released unemployment figures show Nevada with an overall unemployment rate of 12%. Las Vegas itself has been hammered, taking a staggering official joblessness hit of 13.1%. No doubt Harry's good friend Barack contributed in part to the jobs collapse when, back in the spring, BOTUS demonized corporations for holding shindigs in Las Vegas. If there is no substantial improvement in Nevada employment numbers by the Fall of 2010, I think Harry's gonna have to find a new job.

Kali-FORN-ia to tax Tatts?

Nickie Goomba at Goomba News Network has a great piece on how the California State legislature is looking at taxing tattoos at a rate of $1.00 to $1.50/annum. If this idea weren't so scary it would be hilarious.

What will these INSANE Democrats think up next? Cutting "entitlements" and useless programs? Nah!

FBI Trains Blogger(s) as Agent(s) Provocateur

Andrew Breitbart has an A.P. story up about a New Jersey man named Hal Turner who's lawyers claim he was trained by the F.B.I in how to provoke "right wing" activists into breaking the law.

Hal Turner worked for the FBI from 2002 to 2007 as an "agent provocateur" and was taught by the agency "what he could say that wouldn't be crossing the line," defense attorney Michael Orozco said.

"His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest," Orozco said.

Prosecutors have acknowledged that Turner was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations, but the defense has said Turner was not working for the FBI when he allegedly made threats against Connecticut legislators and wrote that three federal judges in Illinois deserved to die.

Where are all the whiny civil-liberties hand-wringers of the left on this one? I'm guessing that they'll stay mum on this since Turner was targeting "Right Wingers" rather than radical leftists or islamists. Still, its intensely disturbing - but not at all surprising in light of the post 9/11 paranoia that engendered the Patriot Act (a law that Obama voted to re-authorize in the summer of 2008)- that federal law enforcement agencies should be in the business of stoking passions so high that someone goes out and does something stupid and criminal.

CAGW's Porker of da Month: Russ Carnahan

One of my favorite Washingtoon watchdogs, Citizens Against Government Waste, awarded Cong Russ Carnahan (D. MO) its not at all coveted award "Porker of the Month" for July. Russ, you richly deserve the recognition.

Here's the story:

Rep. Russ Carnahan is CAGW’s July Porker of the Month

Washington, D.C. - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today named Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.) its July Porker of the Month. Rep. Carnahan, who was caught on videotape by a vigilant citizen blogger at a town hall meeting held at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, who posted the remarks on his website and on YouTube, grossly misrepresented the costs associated with the controversial healthcare reforms bills currently under consideration in Congress. His statements were so patently false that when members of the audience reacted with disbelief and loud guffaws, he instantly became the public face of those in Washington, D.C. who are willing to blurt out anything they think will mask the reality of this heinous reform plan to try to slip it by taxpayers.

Rep. Carnahan first stated that “The overall cost of the package has been estimated at about $1 trillion over ten years. About half of that comes from savings and efficiencies in the system,” a statement which drew derisive chuckles from a skeptical audience. He then compounded his verbal misery by asserting that “The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) most recently came out and analyzed the current plan and said that it was not only debt neutral, which has been one of the important factors of the President and congressional leaders, but also that over 10 years it would create a $6 billion surplus,” a statement which was both demonstrably false and elicited loud guffaws. In fact, on June 15, a month before these remarks, CBO estimated that the Kennedy-Dodd bill would increase the deficit by $1 trillion over 10 years. On July 16, four days before Rep. Carnahan’s comments, CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf told the Senate Budget Committee that every healthcare reform bill would increase costs, not reduce them.

Rep. Carnahan’s behavior seems to be part of a pattern. Democrats in the House seem to be willing to say anything to misdirect taxpayers. For example, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the legislation’s head cheerleader, said during the week of July 10 that “all of the cost of the healthcare reform bill can come from squeezing more savings out of the system;” soon thereafter she came out in favor of a $544 billion tax increase to finance healthcare reform. The President has said that he would only support a bill that is deficit neutral, and that reforms should mirror “what members of Congress are getting through the federal employee plan.” Yet he seems to be pushing for a bill that would not meet any of those criteria.

For his memorable walk-on cameo appearance in this political Comedy of Errors and his significant contribution to the unbridled bloviation emanating from Washington, most of which has been long on spin and short on facts, Rep. Russ Carnahan is CAGW’s July Porker of the Month.

Citizens Against Government Waste is the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government. Porker of the Month is a dubious honor given to lawmakers, government officials, and political candidates who have shown a blatant disregard for the interests of taxpayers.

Arlen Specter's Political Graveyard Spiral: Toomey 48%, Specter 36%

Per Rasmussen Reports, it appears that Arlen Specter's re-election prospects are dim and that his numbers are in what pilots call a "graveyard spiral".

Pennsylvania Senate: Toomey 48%, Specter 36%

Uncomfortable town hall meetings are just the tip of the iceberg for Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter. He now trails Republican Pat Toomey by double digits in his bid for reelection next year and is viewed unfavorably by a majority of the state’s voters.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Pennsylvania voters shows 48% would vote for Toomey if the election were held today. Just 36% would vote for Specter while four percent (4%) prefer a third option, and 12% are not sure.

Becky C. - Gone for good, or at least until she resurrects....

One of my favorite blogs Just a Girl in Short Shorts Talking about Whatever is no longer available at all on Blogger. Becky C. who wrote Just a Girl, has a razor sharp wit, she's both smart and a smart-ass and she was always willing to call out anyone on their BS, and very frequently did, including the boyz at Google.

About three weeks ago, after nearly three and a half years of blogging, Becky said Au-Revoir to us all. It appears that Becky had been "flagged" for putting up the image of a bare-breasted woman sitting at the edge of a pool [Egads!]. For a time, Blogger put up a mature audience page which Becky's readers would have to click through to get to her blog. The same had already happened in back in May, but Becky's readers were apparently able to raise enough of a rukus to "encourage" Blogger to pull the interstitial block. Not so the second time.

Becky had repeatedly admonished her readers that she is a reluctant blogger, so she may in fact have happily not fought Blogger's second censure as vigorously as she might have.

This morning I stopped in to see if Becky had perhaps had a change of heart and came face up against this new interstitial page stating that Becky was in violation of Blogger's TOS.

For years Becky (a libertarian lesbian lawyer) freely called the Bush Administration on its flagrant violations of the constitution. It appears she had a very strong following in the liberal/progressive GLTB community that cheered on her criticisms of Bush et al. But once BOZ was sworn in and Becky turned her attentions to him and his merry crew of Chicago bandit scum, Becky lost a lot of readership and began getting flagged for technical violations of Blogger's TOS. In her farewell post, Becky pointed out that in the previous three years of blogging she had NEVER been flagged by anyone for objectionable material. She concluded - I believe correctly - that a mindless Obama drone(s) had purposely flag attacked her blog to stifle criticism of the One.

Anyway, now Blogger/Google has administered the coup de grace to Just a Girl and none of us can reach her thoughtful work. Shame on you Blogger.

Becky, if you read this, please know that I miss you and really do look forward to your imminent return to the fray.

Demoncrats recruit for MengeleCare on Craigslist

Also from Sammy at YidWithLid this piece on Obamastroturfers recruiting for MengeleCare on Craigslist:

Democrats Advertising For Pro Obama Protesters on Craigs List

The leadership of the Democratic party, along with their President and the Mainstream Media they control, have been making accusations about the people attending the town hall meetings. According to the Democrats, the people protesting the Obamacare are nothing but actors organized by the crazy right wing and the insurance industry. There is no proof for this charge because it isn't true.

The Democrats, on the other hand are advertising for paid actors to work for the passage of Obamacare, Newsbusters reports:

Take for example the following advertisement placed at the online website Craiglist Monday (h/t Patrick Ruffini):
**TALENTED LEADERS needed to work for health care reform $11-16/hour**

Or how about some of these identified by Dr. Melissa Clouthier Sunday (h/t Walt Gilbert)

Aug 7 – Make social change – Help Pass Obama’s Health Care Reform!!! – (Sacramento) img < href="http://www.fundforthepublicinterest.org/">The Fund for the Public Interest:
Fund For The Public Interest is a national nonprofit organization working to increase the visibility, membership and political power of the nation’s leading environmental and progressive groups.

The Fund was launched in 1982 to develop campaigns and technologies to engage Americans in public interest advocacy efforts. Through our fundraising and non-fundraising canvasses, we've gathered over 20 million petition signatures over the past 25 years and raised over $20 million for our partner organizations in the last year alone.

Current Fund partners like Sierra Club and Human Rights Campaign are expanding their donor base and passing tougher legislation against air pollution, forest clear-cutting, hate crimes, and special interest money in politics. We owe our success to the fusion of our staff’s grassroots organizing experience, cost-conscious attitude and work ethic with our partner groups’ issue expertise, initiative and vision.

Now, they're recruiting for folks to help pass ObamaCare
.
There is nothing illegal with their recruiting efforts, but the hypocrisy of the pro-Obamacare forces is just another example of the President's Chicago politics, place a false label on your opponents by accusing them of doing what you are doing.

Just another example of how the Democratic party does not really care what their constituents think. They just want to ostracize them.

ERIC HOLDER; What the F**K You Thinking Man ?????

Seems Holder's DOJ is now targeting Hollyweird for violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Eric, you do understand that Hollywood is your BOZ's good friend, RIGHT? Hahahaha.... Good luck with keeping it that way!

From the Financial Times, comes this story
:

Fraud spotlight on Hollywood

By Matthew Garrahan in Los Angeles and Brooke Masters in New York

Published: August 9 2009 18:59 | Last updated: August 9 2009 18:59

Hollywood studios and film producers are set to face increasing scrutiny from anti-fraud officials, as a result of a trial involving incidents in Bangkok that could have repercussions across the entertainment sector.

Gerald Green, an American film producer, and his wife, Patricia, are alleged to have violated the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by paying bribes to a Thai tourism official. It is claimed that the alleged bribes were offered to obtain contracts to run an international film festival in Bangkok.

The Green’s trial in Los Angeles, which is entering its second week, is the first FCPA case to involve the entertainment industry. The case suggests that Hollywood has joined the pharmaceuticals and energy industries as a target of anti-fraud enforcers at the US department of justice.

Mr Green produced Rescue Dawn, a Vietnam war drama starring Christian Bale, and Salvador, starring James Woods. Mr Green and his wife have pleaded not guilty to bribery charges.

The DoJ declined to comment on the case. But its new interest in Hollywood could become a severe headache for studios and producers that shoot films in international locations.

Cash inducements to local officials are common in overseas shoots and such payments have hitherto been subject to only patchy scrutiny in Hollywood’s notoriously opaque accounting system.

“The reality is the entertainment industry has always been a little loose in its approach to best practice,” said Jonathan Drimmer, a former DoJ lawyer who is now a partner in the anti-corruption group at the Steptoe & Johnson law firm.

The Green’s trial is likely to be followed by more FCPA investigations in Hollywood, he said. “The justice department identifies a practice [in a particular industry] and then suddenly they go across that industry in a lateral manner. They did it with the medical device industry and they did it with oil and gas companies.”

The bulk of the FCPA cases brought in recent years have focused on the energy and mining sectors.

However, the US government has recently expanded its focus to other industries, including healthcare and retail.

In the past six years it has stepped up its anti-corruption work, launching 17 enforcement actions in 2008 compared with three in 2003.

Boz Unleashes His Basiji - SEIU Thugs Beat Town Hall Event Vendor in St. Louis

Barack Obama (hereinafter "Boz") having called upon his minions to "punch back twice as hard," has had his private "Basij" commander Andy Stern unleash violence on citizens expressing their inalienable right of free speech against ObamaCare.

In St. Louis, a black man named Kenneth Gladney - who was on scene to sell buttons and Gadsden (yellow flag with coiled rattler bearing the legend "Don't Tread on Me") was attacked by SEIU attack "Basijis", 2 of whom were subsequently arrested and one who fled the scene on foot.

Here's some video:

And here is the text of Gladney's lawyer's letter concerning the event:

August 7, 2009

Dear Mr. Hennessy:

I am Kenneth Gladney’s attorney. Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s town hall meeting in South St. Louis County. I was at the town hall meeting as well and witnessed the events leading up to the attack of Kenneth. Kenneth was approached by an SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out “Don’t Tread on Me” flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out these flags. The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo.

Kenneth was beaten badly. One assailant fled on foot; three others were arrested. Kenneth was admitted to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center emergency room, where he was treated for his numerous injuries. Kenneth was merely expressing his freedom of speech by handing out the flags. In fact, he merely asked people as they exited the town hall meeting whether they would like a flag. He in no way provoked any argument or altercation, as evidenced by the fact that three assailants were arrested.

We hope that Kenneth fully recovers from his injuries; however, he is in great pain at this time. We will be pursuing legal action at our discretion. This was a truly senseless hate crime carried out by racist union thugs. Regretfully, Representative Carnahan’s statements blaming Kenneth for being a disruptive force are wholly untrue and slanderous. We would like to think that an elected official in Representative Carnahan’s position would gather accurate information before carelessly rushing to judgment.

Kenneth supports conservative ideals, although he subscribes to no particular political party. We are calling on the SEIU, Representative Carnahan, and President Obama to condemn the racist actions of these union thugs. In the days to come, we will be investigating whether these thugs are working at the behest of Representative Carnahan and how strong their alliances to various organizations–such as ACORN–may be.

We hope the St. Louis Tea Party and tea party organizations around the country will protest Representative Carnahan’s offices and also protest SEIU offices in every major city across the U.S. These Democratic strong-arm tactics must end now.

Regards,

Attorney David B. Brown

Chris Dodd Cleared by Senate Ethics Committee - Did Anyone Really Expect a Different Result???

From Michelle Malkin's site:

The Senate Ethics Committee on Friday dismissed complaints against Democratic Sens. Chris Dodd (Conn.) and Kent Conrad (N.D.) over their participation in Countrywide Financial Corp.’s VIP lending program.

But the panel cautioned the senators that they should have “exercised more vigilance” in their dealings with the mortgage giant to avoid an appearance of preferential treatment.

Well Chris, just because your Senate colleagues cleared you, doesn't mean the VOTERS will come November. Enjoy that Irish "Cottage" buddy.

"Cash for Votes" Bill Stumbles but Trucks On.... $2 Billion More

Harry Reid, Nevada's very weird Senator and (to my continuing astonishment) majority leader of that once august chamber he leads, advises that the Senate will indeed extend BOTUS' Cash for Clunkers program (a transparent vote buying effort) with an infusion of an additional $2 BILLION, all to the apparent delight of Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. Yes, based on early numbers, it seems that American auto manufacturers may NOT be the principal beneficiaries of "Cash for Votes."

Oddly enough (or perhaps not, given the party in control) the Senate seems intent on pressing forward with the program against the apparent wishes of most American voters who oppose "Cash for Votes" 54% to 33%.
