And this from Pravda: American capitalism gone with a whimper

"It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe."

USDOJ career lawyers overruled on voting case

It appears that Eric Holder's politicized (read radicalized) Justice department has determined that intimidation at the polls is not a violation of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, if the intimidators are of African extraction. The open question remains: Will the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment apply so as to extend to Caucasians, Asians, Hispanics, and all other non-african ethnics the same "right" to intimidate their fellow citizens with impunity through thuggery at the polls?

So, here's the ugly story from The Washington Times:

"EXCLUSIVE: Career lawyers overruled on voting case.
Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident - which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube - had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

"Thought Crimes" Bill Passes House April 29th

'Thought Crimes' Bill Advances

by Nat Hentoff

This article appeared in the Metro West Daily News on May 11, 2009.

"Why is the press remaining mostly silent about the so-called "hate crimes law" that passed in the House on April 29? The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed in a 249-175 vote (17 Republicans joined with 231 Democrats). These Democrats should have been tested on their knowledge of the First Amendment, equal protection of the laws (14th Amendment), and the prohibition of double jeopardy (no American can be prosecuted twice for the same crime or offense). If they had been, they would have known that this proposal, now headed for a Senate vote, violates all these constitutional provisions."

CYA the Dodd Way.... Pander, Pander, Pander....

"Credit card reform is long overdue and if Sen. Dodd wasn't so busy collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from big banks, credit card companies, the pay day loan industry and pawn shops we might have had reform years ago. This bill is a belated improvement on the current system, but has more to do with covering Sen. Dodd's extremely exposed hind end than with protecting consumers."

Be Careful What You Ask For, You Might Just Get It...

Barack Obama's rich supporters fear his tax plans show he's a class warrior

Some of Barack Obama's richest supporters fear they have elected a "class warrior" to the White House, who will turn America's freewheeling capitalism into a more regulated European system.

Wealthy Wall Street financiers and other business figures provided crucial support for Mr Obama during the election, backing him over the Republican candidate John McCain as the right leader to rescue the collapsing US economy.

But it is now dawning on many among them that Mr Obama was serious about his campaign trail promises to bring root and branch reform to corporate America - and that they were more than just election rhetoric.

A top Obama fundraiser and hedge fund manager said: "I'm appalled at the anti-Wall Street rhetoric. It was OK on the campaign but now it's the real world. I'm surprised that Obama is turning out to be so left-wing. He's a real class warrior."

Chris Edwards of the Cato Institute, a free enterprise think tank, said Democrats in Congress were unnerved by the president's latest plan to raise $210 billion over 10 years from multinational corporations.

The money is needed to pay for a national debt that will double over the next five years; and triple over the next 10 years to $17.3 trillion. But the crackdown already faces fierce Democratic resistance.

"These big companies are based in New York Boston, Seattle and Silicon Valley, where Democrats dominate," Mr Edwards said. "Obama's tax plan is already cleaving him from his big corporate supporters," he said.

Well Ladies & Gents of Wall Street, its not as if you weren't warned, both by Barack himself and all those "Right Wing" radio talk show hosts you love to sneer at in your snobby salons.

Don't worry too much, the 2010 mid-terms are closer than you think; just don't get in our way when the time comes.

Three Duplicitous Rebublicans Earn Porker(s) of the Month Award from C.A.G.W.

Reps. Hunter, Jenkins, Lance are CAGW’s April Porkers of the Month

Washington, D.C. - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today named freshmen Representatives Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.), and Leonard Lance (R-N.J.) as its April 2009 Porkers of the Month. The three members of Congress broke their signed earmark reform campaign pledges with CAGW’s lobbying arm, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW).

“Every year members of Congress betray the taxpayers’ trust by bloating the budget with earmarks, but this betrayal is particularly acute because these three representatives broke their signed campaign pledges just a few months after being sworn into the 111th Congress,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz.

Specifically, the three pledged “not to request any earmarked funding or targeted tax benefit that does not serve a federal interest and/or have a federal nexus.” Contrary to this pledge, all three requested multiple earmarks in the FY 2010 appropriations bills that violated that plank of the ten-point pledge. The earmark requests are listed on the members’ websites, as required by recently passed earmark reforms.

That irrepressible slob Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), was the deserving winner of CAGW's March "Porker of the Month" prize. Congratulations Barney, YOU CERTAINLY EARNED IT!!!

The Mind of a Liberal Governor: Deval Patrick's Welfare Wheels

Free cars for poor fuel road rage

By Hillary Chabot | Thursday, May 7, 2009 | Copyright 2009 http://www.bostonherald.com | Local Coverage

Gov. Deval Patrick’s free wheels for welfare recipients program is revving up despite the stalled economy, as the keys to donated cars loaded with state-funded insurance, repairs and even AAA membership are handed out to get them to work.

But the program - fueled by a funding boost despite the state’s fiscal crash - allows those who end up back on welfare to keep the cars anyway.

“It’s mind-boggling. You’ve got people out there saying, ‘I just lost my job. Hey, can I get a free car, too?’ ” said House Minority Leader Brad Jones (R-North Reading).

The Patrick administration decided last month to funnel an additional $30,000 to the nearly $400,000 annual car ownership program.

The program, which is provided by the State Department of Transitional Assistance, gives out about 65 cars a year, said DTA Commissioner Julia Kehoe.

The state pays for the car’s insurance, inspection, excise tax, title, registration, repairs and a AAA membership for one year at a total cost of roughly $6,000 per car. [Emphasis added]

Keep it up Deval! This is EXACTLY what your opposition needs you doing going into the next election. It's always fun watching arrogant democrats create the circumstances of their own undoing. Yet, they never seem to be introspective enough in the aftermath of their falls from grace to grasp what it is
they did to hasten their own political destruction.

Barack, watch your buddy Deval flame out in style. Your turn's a comming.

Delusional Chris Dodd: Waterboarding = Genocide

Below, from my favorite Connecticut centric blog, The Artful Doddger:

Someones Been Waterboarding Chris Dodd With Kool-Aid

Perhaps he was playing to the crowd of lefties he was performing for. Perhaps he thought it would help his floundering poll numbers. Or, most disturbing of all, perhaps he actually believes his analogy is apropos.

In any event, Chris Dodd on Sunday defended the ridiculous notion of criminal prosecutions for those who authorized waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques that were indisputably applied to very few high value terrorists under tightly-controlled circumstances and which were directly responsible for interrupting plots to murder Americans. And he did it by comparing his imagined show-trials to the Nuremberg trials his father participated in. If the elder Dodd felt any pride for what he did, his son's analogy must have made him roll over in his grave.

So on one hand we have the Democrats advocating for the outright release of terrorists into the United States so they can collect welfare. On the other hand, led by Reid, Pelosi and now Dodd, the Dems are pushing for criminal investigations and "truth commission" investigations of government attorneys from the opposing political party for performing legal research that resulted in opinions they disagree with (though no objections were raised at the time). Even the LA Times thinks it's a stretch.
Despite the growing demands to bring criminal charges against the authors of the so-called torture memos, even critics of the Bush administration see problems with seeking to prosecute lawyers such as John C. Yoo, Jay S. Bybee or Steven G. Bradbury...

"It would be a real stretch. As long as they thought they were honestly interpreting the [anti-torture] law, they are not criminal conspirators," said Stephen A. Saltzburg, a law professor at George Washington University and a former prosecutor.
And in that context, Chris Dodd has the temerity to state that writing a memo that allows trained men to pour water on the face of our enemies to save American lives is equivalent to ethnic cleansing and genocide. He has gone from an incredibly popular and widely esteemed public official to an embarassing caricature of an incompetent ultra-liberal. It is time for Chris Dodd to go.

UPDATE, My comment left on Artful Doddger:

My view is that Dodd had gone unchallenged for so long that suddenly, now, when people are able to look behind his Ozian curtain (with the help of internet research to be sure) they are finally seeing him for the vain and superficial intellectual lightweight he really is; Dodd in turn appears stunned and outraged by the audacity of his challengers, but also so entrenched in his ways that he is blind to his own conduct and deaf to the entirely valid charges of his critics. Its been so long that he hasn't had to use his brain, that he can now only parrot the silly talking points of his party's propagandists (Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod). Hmmm... Shades of Joseph Goebbels...

Ron Paul on Swine Flu hysteria

From Consent of the Governed (and YouTube), here's a great video of Ron Paul discussing the massive and ultimately very silly over-reaction of our Washingtoon political class. Paul, it should be noted, is one of the few (if not only) trained physicians in Congress so he knows what of he speaks. Biden of course is a brain aneurysm damaged dumbf***k.

Specter Will Be Junior Democrat on Committees

Despite promises from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) that Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) would retain his seniority after switching parties, Specter will be put at the end of the seniority line on all his committees but one under a resolution approved on the floor late Tuesday.

Under the modified organizing resolution, Specter will not keep his committee seniority on any of the five committees that he serves on and will be the junior Democrat on all but one — the chamber’s Special Committee on Aging. On that committee, he will be next to last in seniority.

As a result, Specter — who as a Republican was ranking member on the Judiciary Committee and a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, as well as ranking member of the panel’s Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education — will now rank behind all the other Democrats, at least until the end of this Congress.

"But as a matter of principle, I'm becoming much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach."

Hello again Arlen:

Well its a good thing you are much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach to things now that you are with 'em in both name and inclination. From where I stand, its looking like they do indeed share your "principles." Still, I think it must have come to you as something rather worse than a bad surprise to suddenly be a junior senator again. So much for Democrat promises.... hehehehe

As the saying goes: "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it."

Specter: Another Walking, Talking, Breathing Reason for Term Limits

Specter: GOP priorities contributed to Kemp death

Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Democrat, said part of the reason he left the Republican Party last week was disillusionment with its healthcare priorities, and suggested that had the Republicans taken a more moderate track, Jack Kemp may have won his battle with cancer.

Mr. Specter, responding to a question from CBS's Bob Schieffer over whether he had let down Pennsylvanians who wanted a Republican to represent them, said he felt his priorities were more in line with those of the Democrats.

Well, I was sorry to disappoint many people. Frankly, I was disappointed that the Republican Party didn't want me as their candidate," Mr. Specter said on CBS's "Face the Nation." "But as a matter of principle, I'm becoming much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach. And one of the items that I'm working on, Bob, is funding for medical research."

Mr. Specter continued: "If we had pursued what President Nixon declared in 1970 as the war on cancer, we would have cured many strains. I think Jack Kemp would be alive today. And that research has saved or prolonged many lives, including mine."

Mr. Kemp passed away Saturday, after fighting with cancer. Mr. Kemp ran for the White House in 1996 with Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole.

______

"Well, I was sorry to disappoint many people. Frankly, I was disappointed that the Republican Party didn't want me as their candidate." Oh, really Arlen? Hmmm...? So, rather than work your ass off between now and primary day to prove to your Pennsylvania Republican constituents that you do in fact represent them, that you do in fact hear them and do in fact care about their issues and concerns, you jump ship at the first sign of trouble with your polls.

Well Arlen, we all know the saying about rats and sinking ships. Your problem is that you are confused about the distinction between your too long political career and principles; its your political career - battered by your long history of favoring statist interventionism over free market principles - that is the ship that ran straight into Obama's wildly bloated and irresponsible stimulus nightmare iceberg. So Arlen, I predict that you will be the author of your own political demise. You won't be missed by me.

You also said in the course of your chat "[b]ut as a matter of principle, I'm becoming much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach." Bluntly Arlen, the only "principle" to which you seem capable of sticking is your own endless re-election which it now seems is far from a certain outcome; just ask Chris Shays. Again, when you finally do lose you won't be missed, by me, or even by the permanent Georgetown cocktail party circuit; you will simply be gone, and all you'll be left to see is plain old citizen Arlen Specter, senza the senatorial honorific, in the mirror every morning. I bet the thought of that scares the shit out of you, doesn't it Arlen?

Finally, you said: "If we had pursued what President Nixon declared in 1970 as the war on cancer, we would have cured many strains. I think Jack Kemp would be alive today..."

Neither you nor anyone else could possibly know to any degree of certainty whether Jack Kemp would be alive today. In any event, by your own admission, there is and has been substantial on-going cancer research and it has saved many lives, including yours. That said, you are a privileged Senator and therefore by definition an elitist entitled to the very best medical care to be found in the United States as part of your health care plan (funded by me, among many others). I for one have no faith or expectation that the level of care that you get as a Senator would be available to me or any other average unwashed citizen through the sort of government health care rationing system your former Senate colleague (and now, apparently your shaykh) plans to impose on all of us in due course.
